Since 1824, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has had a long history of connection with the United Kingdom. Myanmar gained independence from British domination in 1948, following a series of significant events.
Due to political and human rights concerns in Myanmar after independence to today, bilateral relations between the two nations are often tense. However, the UK continues to aid Myanmar in strengthening its social and political issues, particularly the humanitarian crises.
