ASEAN-UK YLI GC attended the 48th SSEAYP

From 04 November to 11 December 2024, for 38 days, Mr. Vanndasambath Chhuon, ASEAN-UK Young Leaders Initiative (ASEAN-UK YLI) representing Cambodia as the participating youth at the 48th Ship Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme. This journey took him over the last 5 months of 2024 including the Pre-Departure Training, Main Programme and Post-Programme Activities. This journey voyages across three countries including Japan, Indonesia and Viet Nam.


Alongside the 168 youths from ASEAN nations and Japan, with Timor-Leste as the observing nation for the first time this year, Mr. Vanndasambath was the Head and Country Representative of the Discussion Group, Peer Learning Seminar, and Post-Programme Activities Committee.


This experience motivated him to expand his network and create opportunities that could have a lasting impact on future generations and give a voice to the youth as emerging leaders. During the DG Presentation, he stated, "Soft power is a fundamental key for small states to establish their presence in the context of economic attractiveness and friendly relations with other nations. Youth represent a new group that needs to enhance this image on the international stage."
