Understanding Malaysia-UK Relations

The Federation Malaya or Malaysia and the United Kingdom has shared a very long history together since the 17th Century. Malaysia has gained full independence from the British Colonial on 31 August 1957. Malaysia and the UK are the member's Commonwealth of Nations and have the High Commission in both countries.
Malaysia and the United Kingdom have long-standing bilateral relations, which have led to both countries becoming significant partners in many areas such as education, technology, climate action, health, and an important economic sector. Moreover, both countries also have strong cooperation on the defense agreement on the Five Power Defense Arrangements that will be commemorated for the 50th anniversary this year.
