On September 5, 1955, the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the United Kingdom established diplomatic relations. Unfortunately, ties between the two countries were conducted without a physical embassy from the mid-1980s until 2012, marking the 27th of the British official absence in Vientiane.
Currently, the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the United Kingdom are strengthening their bilateral cooperation through social and economic development based on the Creative Partnership for the 21st Century on a wide range of issues and sectors; as well as the multilateral cooperation in the ASEAN regions.
Note: Total trade in 2021 (goods and services) indicated to the four quarters to the end of Q2 2021.
