Cambodia and the United Kingdom have had diplomatic relations for almost seven decades since the first establishment in 1953 until the present day. However, in the 1960s to 1980s, the interaction between countries went unsmooth due to the impacts from the superpowers' competition in the region during the Cold War Period, the Khmer Rouge regime, and intrastate conflict in Cambodia; even worse into the withdrawal of the official diplomatic relations in 1979.
Later, the relations of both kingdoms were re-established from 1991 until the present day. Currently, Cambodia and the UK have shared good relations along with each other in both bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
