Courtesy Call with the Embassy of Republic of Indonesia to the United Kingdom

On 13 June 2025, the ASEAN-UK YLI team paid a virtual courtesy call with Mr. Alessandro Bernama, Head of Political Affairs, and Ms. Andirosa Veitchia, Political Officer, at the Indonesian Embassy in London, United Kingdom.

During the meeting, Mr. Chhuon Vanndasambath, General Coordinator, Mr. Thri Shri, Deputy General Coordinator, and Ms. Chhoeun Yutathavy, Programme Coordinator, outlined the ASEAN-UK YLI project, current initiatives, and priorities for the year. Their goal is to expand the network and official dialogue, and to implement the projects through dialogue, research, and youth diplomacy.

Mr. Alessandro discussed recent developments in ASEAN-UK relations and Indonesia's role as chair of the 3rd ASEAN-London Committee this year, along with their diplomatic relations in various sectors.

He offered valuable and insightful advice on enhancing our platforms within the evolving and dynamic context of ASEAN-UK relations and the contemporary world order. He also highlighted the next steps for ASEAN-UK YLI, looking forward to activities marking the 5th anniversary of the UK becoming ASEAN's Dialogue Partner, and the final year of the POA and its next POA.

Both parties also discussed the significance of involving youth in these areas. Additionally, we discussed exploring the potential for collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in London to further involve young people and improve mutual understanding between our communities.
