Meeting with the British High Commission in Brunei Darussalam's Political Officer

On 31 July 2025, Mr Vanndasambath Chhuon, ASEAN-UK YLI's General Coordinator, had a virtual meeting with Mr Morgan Kimber, Political Officer at the British High Commission in Brunei Darussalam.

During the meeting, Mr. Vanndasambath presented our youth-led initiative, highlighted our past activities, and discussed our upcoming courtesy meeting with the Brunei High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Morgan outlined key aspects of the bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom (UK), along with ASEAN and UK relations. He referenced the Annual UK-Brunei Strategic Dialogue, initiated in November 2021, which seeks to enhance and strengthen mutual cooperation, laying the groundwork for the enduring relationship and special friendship between the two nations. He also highlighted the shared history, strong government-to-government connections, and the close educational and people-to-people ties. Important sectors such as defense, legal cooperation, education, environment, trade, and economic relations hold particular importance, with Brunei Darussalam hosting British Forces Brunei, contributing to regional security and prosperity.

He provided us with valuable insights for our future activities. Both parties look forward to collaborating to promote youth engagement and deepen the understanding of Brunei and UK relations, as well as on a regional level with the UK as ASEAN's Dialogue Partner.
