Meeting with Deputy Head of Oceania and Myanmar Department, FCDO, Mr. Peter Thomas

On March 14, 2024, the ASEAN-UK Young Leaders Initiative team was honoured to meet with Mr. Peter Thomas, Deputy Head of the Oceania and Myanmar Department, FCDO, at the British Embassy in Phnom Penh.

During the meeting, we discussed the latest developments in Myanmar, focusing on the UK’s foreign policy toward Myanmar and its collaboration with ASEAN in addressing the crisis. We also exchanged views on the relevance of the 5 Points Consensus in facilitating a peaceful resolution in Myanmar.

Both sides emphasized the critical importance of ensuring that Myanmar's people can live safely, with respect for democracy, human rights, and stability.
