Lunch Meeting with First Secretary of British Embassy in Phnom Penh

On 11 February 2025, ASEAN-UK Young Leaders Initiative (ASEAN-UK YLI) have a lunch meeting with Mr. Christopher Williamson, First Secretary, Head of Political, Economic and Development of the British Embassy in Phnom Penh.
During the meeting, we discussed about the recent and first time visit of Her Excellency Sarah Tiffin, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Association of Southeast Asian Nations in early February 2024. We also shared views on UK's Indo-Pacific strategy following the visit of UK Minister for Indo-Pacific, Catherine West MP and her trip to Indonesia.
Besides from regional level, we touched British and Cambodia engagement toward the social development. We acknowledged the importance of social inclusion on equal access to education and economic shared. We also discussed about the role of the UK in supporting human rights and economic growths and its position to help Cambodia upgrade to become an upper middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050, that committed by the Royal Government of Cambodia.
From ASEAN-UK YLI side, Mr. Vanndasambath Chhuon, General Coordinator of ASEAN-UK YLI, joined with Mr. Thri Shri, Deputy General Coordinator and Ms. Eoeung Kanhara and Mr. Sreng Hengsal, Programme Coordinator in the meeting.
